Unlike what’s come before!

I know for many of us, the attraction to fine knives is tactile. For some it’s the purchase of the knife in your hand. Can’t be too heavy, but can’t be too light either. For others it’s the action. Fidget factor. Or even the fine texture of the milled titanium. If tactile isn’t your thing, we all go in for its design aesthetics.

This small company must be full of similar passionate freaks, because this knife not only touches on each addictive quality, it knocks it out of the park! I am not one to write reviews gushing. I feel no need to bolster my purchasing decision. This knife truly hits 100% in every category.

The action alone is flawless. Dead smooth and nothing to snag on. This may start others to investigate their pivot design, because it’s clean, simple, and solid lockup.

They have the tiger by the tail. If I’m being super critical, the milling may be so fine, the oils from your hands discolor the finish. But I don’t know if that’s a problem or something to praise! All I can say is get in line now, I’m signing up for #2 after I finish this review!

Hard to believe this is their first go at a button lock folder.

Integral

The handle of the Sonora is machined from a single piece of titanium. Only two screws and a single pivot are used to assemble the Sonora.

Bushing Pivot

The Sonora runs on a bushing pivot system. Bushing pivots are a mainstay of the balisong industry and can be tuned to provide free swing and zero blade play. A bushing is a small donut that rides in a corresponding hole in the blade. When assembled and tightened, the bushing stands the washers off from the blade. This effectively allows the blade to float in between the washers on a cushion of oil. Our bushings are tuned to within 0.0008 inch of oversize to create rock solid lock-up while allowing for free swing.
