Care Guide
Got a MachineWise product? Here’s how to keep it in top shape.
We’ve put together a few quick videos to walk you through maintaining your balisong. In most cases, you won’t need to take anything apart. Our channel balisongs use hardened steel washers that last longer than typical phosphor bronze ones. Just clean your pivots and re-lube them occasionally to keep things running smoothly.
A note on disassembly
We don’t recommend taking apart your MachineWise balisong. Each one is tuned to tight tolerances, and reassembling it can affect the performance. If you decide to go for it anyway, re-torque the pivots to 27 lbs-in (3 N·m) when reassembling.
Model-specific Tips
Sonora
- Pivots torqued to 10 lbs-in
- Uses a bushing pivot system with a very tight tune
- Some minor play may develop when dry; apply the provided lubricant to the tang and work it in to restore performance
Mojave
- Pivots are torqued for smooth action and thread-locked with Vibra-Tite VC3
- All hardware is titanium
- Avoid overtightening the clip threads or body screws
