A manufacturing studio focused on heirloom-quality knives, balisongs, and tools.
How it Started
MachineWise began the way a lot of good things do: in a garage.
Founder Deylan Crawford didn’t come from the knife world. He was a career machinist looking to make something of his own from the ground up. He wasn’t a flipper, an enthusiast, or a collector. He just wanted to build something epic — something different. So he bought a mill, learned Fusion 360, and got to work.
What started as a solo side project turned into a full-blown obsession. He honed his designs, and prototyped obsessively — not because anyone asked him to, but because he wanted to.
The result? A balisong that didn’t follow the rules, but still earned respect — from first-time flippers to seasoned collectors.
How it's Going
Today, MachineWise is a tight-knit team of designers, machinists, and makers in Phoenix. We build everything in-house, test it ourselves, and keep our standards high — even if it slows us down.
The shop runs on music, momentum, and mutual respect. Everyone pitches in. Whether it’s dialing in tolerances, filming a product reel, or cleaning out the coolant tank, nobody hides behind a title.
Every batch builds on the last. Every drop gets better. We listen, learn, and keep improving because that’s what the craft demands.
