In rarified air

Let me be clear, the Sonora is an exceptional EDC tool - consistent, tough and capable. It also happens to be among the most stylish, smooth, elegant and detailed pieces you can find at any price tier. For what it’s worth … I don’t have a knife that can rival it at the price but I have several knives that cost me more and deliver less. On top of everything else, Martin is responsive, patient and a pleasure to work with. Finally, regular production runs means you have a realistic chance to find what you’re looking for. My Machinewise Sonora rivals comparable Shiro’s, Herman’s, Koenig’s, RJohnson’s and CRK’s of the world.

Great knife, great action

Can’t beat that no screws integral look and I love the diamond handle pattern. Wonderful action and a really nice button lock (which I usually don’t like). Only complaint is the sharp end on the pocket clip, a little uncomfortable in the hand.

My Sonora

One of the smoothest knives I own. What a gorgeous pattern on the blade. Right up there with Koenig,Henry, and Sharp by Design.

Brett Schlifka

Excellent knife with smooth action and fantastic build quality.

20 CV

20 CV has excellent wear resistance allowing it to hold an edge for an exceptionally long time. 20 CV is the choice for a steel wear performance in the first focus.

Magnacut

Magnacut is the obvious choice for this application, toting excellent edge retention, toughness, and extreme corrosion resistance. This blade steel is a workhorse that will serve you for years to come.

Button lock

MachineWise got it's start as a brand focused on producing high quality balisongs, and this passion for the fidgety things in life stuck with us in the design of the Sonora. Our goal is to deliver the ultimate EDC knife that also can entertain you for hours at your desk.

Integral

The handle of the Sonora is machined from a single piece of titanium. Only two screws and a single pivot are used to assemble the Sonora.

Bushing Pivot

The Sonora runs on a bushing pivot system. Bushing pivots are a mainstay of the balisong industry and can be tuned to provide free swing and zero blade play. A bushing is a small donut that rides in a corresponding hole in the blade. When assembled and tightened, the bushing stands the washers off from the blade. This effectively allows the blade to float in between the washers on a cushion of oil. Our bushings are tuned to within 0.0008 inch of oversize to create rock solid lock-up while allowing for free swing.

Made in USA

Proudly machined, assembled and finished in Phoenix, Arizona. Our small five-person team puts 110% effort into every product that leaves our door.
